This time I had the experience to try the Peruvian restaurant "La Rosa Nautica" I enjoyed the food very much and I learned about this place thanks to Mr. Dan Caballero. Usually I would go on talking on how great the food was, but this has been done for me, as Mr. Caballero is really thrilled about his experience in this restaurant. His experience is as follows:
I have some Peruvian friends visiting my Family, and I was looking for a Peruvian restaurant in the Palm Beach County area to take my friends for dining. After finding the place in a web search and the catchy name “La Rosa Nautica” restaurant caught my eyes, located in Boca Raton. I have not had any dining disappointments in Boca Raton, so my family, and my friends decided to take the drive from West Boynton Beach to Boca on a Saturday afternoon. As we walked in to the restaurant we were immediately greeted, the restaurant is filled with photos and memorabilia of their beautiful country Peru. I ordered a typical homemade drink. Chicha Morada. It is made of Purple Corn, hmm.... a drink made from Corn I was not convinced that I would enjoy it, I said lets go all the way and stick to their tradition, since it is my very first time trying Peruvian drinks and dishes. Wow, what an excellent way to start. The drink was very refreshing not to sweet and not bitter at all, it had a perfect balance, it was a homemade natural food drink and it was delicious. We proceeded in ordering appetizers, the waiter did communicate that every dish is made to order; therefore, the wait will be longer than typical restaurants. I was happy of the fact that I was going to be served fresh food, a dish prepared for “me”, that made the experience more exciting and I could not wait. For starters, we ordered Tamal Peruano with Pork, the Tamal was served on a Banana leaf and was very fresh with a bed of red onion salad made with vinegar and a hint of Salt and Pepper very basic and very delicious. The second appetizer we ordered was Pulpo Al Olivio, one thing I can say for sure is that they do not hold back on their portions, the Octopus was very fresh and the Olive sauce was good, I would advise less of the olive sauce so that you can taste the Octopus - but that is my opinion, overall it was very good. Last, we ordered Choritos A La Chalaca, stuffed muscles with, onions, cilantro and lime juice, the balance could not be more than perfect. Did I mention that we, were suppose to be a party of ten. I tell you, we ate for a party of twenty. Finally, the main course arrives. The Ceviche Mixta which is a variety of fish, was like no other. It had a perfect balance of aji , clilantro and lime to refresh the palette. Now, I personally love seafood, I was very pleased with the appetizers, so we decided that we had to order another typical seafood dish. We decided to order the Jalea de Mixta, a variety of fried fish server with fried Yuca and their typical red onion salad. I was very pleased with their entrees, “Finally some good latin food”.Wait, I forgot to mention their desserts. We ordered Crema Bolteada, it is very similar to flan, the texture is thicker and it is glazed with a butter scotch like caramel – OH MY GOD. This was a heavenly experience. It did not end there, the Peruvian waiter said that I must try Peruvian Ice Cream, it is made of a special fruit very natural and it is the perfect treat of all. He was right again, it was indeed a special treat. The ice cream had fresh taste and a perfect balance, it was not rich at all, it has a very light taste, it was weightless, very light it was hard to stop eating. I said to my dear Peruvian friend that it taste as if it has a hint of butter scotch, she said “it doesn’t”, regardless of what was in it, I don’t know much about their food but it was perfect. (My palette is still saying a hint of butter scotch by the way). What a way to end our meal. Now there is a problem, the problem is that everything on the menu sounds delicious. I need to go back and make a couple of visits. Not only was there food delicious, what made the experience more pleasant was the service. The waiters were very pleasant and more than happy to serve you and educate you on their typical Peruvian dishes. What an excellent dining experience. I personally give them five stars overall.Yours Truly,An Argentinean looking for a memorable Latin dining experience in South Florida.
